Importance of Vaishakha Purnima

Every month on the fifteenth day of Shukla Paksha, there is a full moon. The full moon of Vaishakha month is particularly noteworthy and holds significant religious value since the month of Vaishakha is revered greatly. It is thought that keeping a fast on Vaishakh Purnima will bring prosperity and health. Satya Narayan Puja is done on this day to obtain Lord Vishnu's blessings. On this day, followers further worship Dharmaraja. Worshiping Dharmaraja on this day is thought to help people get over their fear of dying young. In addition, when you worship Lord Vishnu on this day, you will be freed from all sin. In addition, it is said in Hindu mythology that Lord Krishna urged his friend Sudama to fast on Vaishakha Purnima to attract prosperity in life and be endowed with good wealth. Rituals for Vaishakh Purnima

The following customs are to be observed on Vaishakh Purnima in 2024:
  • Before dawn, get up and take a bath. Put on clean clothes and get ready to start the Vaishakh Purnima rituals.
  • Worship both Lord Hanuman and Lord Vishnu and beg them to grant you the prosperity and pleasure you desire.
  • Honor the Sun God and present argha. Recite "Om Suryaya Namah" or chant the Surya Mantra simultaneously to invoke his blessings and favorably start the day.
  • On this day, honor the goddess Lakshmi and the god Satyanarayana. On that day, promise to fast and recite the Satyanarayan Katha. Furthermore, prepare bhog and present it to the gods. 
  • During the Satyanarayan Puja, offerings of fruits, banana leaves, supari, incense sticks, moli, and sandalwood paste are made to Lord Vishnu to obtain his blessings.
  • As part of the Vaishakh Purnima rituals, worship Lord Moon and offer argha with water at night. An individual's life is brought to harmony and peace when this is done. 
  • Giving on this day is a nice habit to get into. Give away a container that is full of kaccha anna, or raw food. By doing this, you can get good karma and wash away your sins.
