What is Durva Grass’s story?
According to Hindu mythology, the skies were overrun by a monster called Analasura. He used to shoot flames from his eyes and would destroy everything that stood in his path. Every god came to see Lord Ganesha to ask for his assistance and support. Ganesha gave them his word that he would kill Analasura to bring happiness and tranquility back. Analasura used fireballs to assault Lord Ganesha during the battle. At that very moment, Ganesha swallowed Analasura after revealing his “viraat roop.” As a result, Lord Ganesha’s body began to generate a lot of heat and he became restless.
When the Moon God saw this, he came to stand atop Lord Ganesha’s head and assist him. He has gained popularity under the moniker Balachandra ever since that day. Nothing worked when Lord Shiva tied a snake around Ganesha’s belly and Lord Vishnu gave him a lotus to relieve the heat. Finally, a small group of sages placed 21 Durvas atop Lord Ganesha’s head. All of the heat abruptly disappeared at that point. Following that, Lord Ganesha said that those who worshipped him with Durva grass would receive his benefits in addition to joy, serenity, and wealth.
