Ananta Chaturdashi 2024: One of the important festivals that Jains and Hindus commemorate and celebrate is Anant Chaturdashi, also known as Chaturthi. Today is a very positive energy day. The ten-day Ganeshotsav, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, culminates on Anant Chaturdashi. When followers bid farewell to Lord Ganesha during Anant Chaturdashi Ganesh Visarjan, it is known as Ganesh Chaudas. In addition, Lord Vishnu, who is revered in His Anant (Infinite) form, is the focus of this holy day. Devotees frequently follow Anant Vrat (fast) to get rid of karmic consequences, grief, and suffering. Anant means “endless,” and Vishnu’s reclined posture represents a state of spiritual rest, representing Narayana in his pre-cosmic form.

Significance of Ananta Chaturdashi 2024
The word “Anant” means “endless,” and devotees believe that if the Anant Vrata is diligently followed, Lord Narayana will provide solutions for whatever issue a person may have. Some people have practiced this Vrata constantly for fourteen years. They still revere the Anant Shayna avatar of Lord Vishnu. Vishnu’s supine posture represents the period of dormancy and represents the form of Narayana before the worlds evolved and people were created.
This day also marks the immersion (Visarjan) of Lord Ganesha idols, bringing the ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival to a close. On this day, Lord Vishnu is worshipped in the guise of his Anant (Infinite). To escape sorrow and suffering, people commit themselves to the Lord and adhere to the Anant Vrat.

- Keep 14 puris (deep-fried wheat bread) and 14 puas (sweet deep-fried wheat bread) on these tilaks.
- Next, devotees placed Kshirsagar, or Panchamrit, on the wooden surface.
- After being tied to a cucumber, the holy Anant Chaturdashi 2024 thread—14 knots representing Lord Anant—is agitated five times in the Panchamrit, also known as the “Ocean of Milk.”
- Once the followers of the fast have observed the fast, the sacred thread Ananta Sutra, dyed with kumkum and turmeric, is tied around their arm.
- After 14 days, the holy Anant Chaturdashi thread is removed.
Celebration of Anant Chaturdashi in India
There is a great notion that the person who worships Lord Anant sincerely will be delivered from grief. To please the Lord, devotees plan Vishnu Puja and observe Vrat for a day. They use various flowers to adorn their home temples, and they only eat after doing Parana. Because they hold the belief that Lord Vishnu can eliminate all obstacles from a person’s life, they maintain Anant Vrat. For fourteen years in a row, some sages or devotees observe the Anant Chaturdashi fast. On this day, people worship Lord Vishnu in his Anant Shayna form. This position, which is indicative of slumber, belonged to Lord Vishnu before the world’s evolution and the emergence of life.
